Embarking on the Castle 😉😉

I gathered together the materials from walks around our neighborhood and some Mod Podge and decided it was time to stop putting off my determination to make something with absolutely zero practical use.

Do you ever get hung up on starting something because you're sure you'll do it the wrong way? I'm that way with so many things, writing not excluded. The daily practice of morning pages is an immeasurable help for that particular version of my hang-up. But one way I get around this problem in general is by allowing myself to do something the wrong way just to get it started.

This recently happened with a bread maker I tried out for the first time. Supposedly this is a very simple machine to operate. I watched a video on it to gain some confidence first. It must have been for the wrong type of bread maker, because my first batch failed to mix and didn't make anything resembling bread, though it did smell nice. I felt like all my confidence in my ability to master the bread maker went into the trash with my spoiled ingredients. But with some encouragement, I started over the next day, and did it wrong again. At least this time the product was edible.

What I'm doing with the castle is totally the wrong way to go about this project since Mod Podge will dissolve when wet, and with the bug friends this castle is already making, it is not welcome indoors. We'll see how far this goes before I need to find some heftier adhesive to keep everything from sliding off in the rain. I may have to throw out everything I've done and start over. I may choose a different wrong way to begin and repeat the process. Nonetheless, it's a beginning!
